Susan Tahmoosh began playing the piano at the age of 6. She studied Classical music and competed in the National Piano Playing Auditions for 12 years, earning a diploma from the American College of Musicians. Although she had an appreciation for the rigid demands of studying classical music at the time, she began learning songs by ear and joined her first rock band at the age of 13.
Throughout high school and college, Susan was undecided about which creative path to take. Having a love for both music and the visual arts, she studied illustration, design and photography in college, earning a BFA from Montclair State University while continuing to perform in local bands. After college, it was evident that Susan’s passion for music would give her the essential energy and ambition to become a recognized session keyboardist.
Susan has performed and recorded with numerous cover and original bands in and around the New York City area. Her complex range of influences and eclectic style have made her a sought-after session keyboardist, performing with artists such as Phoebe Snow, actor/singer Michael Cavadias, actress/singer Sinoa Loren, Kate Schellenbach (formerly of Luscious Jackson), Queen V, L.P., Antigone Rising, Grace Millo, Amy Coleman, opera singer Aprile Millo, and Valerie Smaldone. In addition to being a session keyboardist, Susan also plays the bass and composes electronic music.
